Workshop of Invention: Constructive Geometry and Architectural Form in Gothic Design

This conference, coordinated by Martin Schwarz and Daniel Tischler, is organized in conjunction with the exhibition Gothic by Design: The Dawn of Architectural Draftsmanship at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which features key sheets from the Basel Goldschmiedrisse.

Poster

While taking the Basel drawings as an important point of departure, the conference broadens the focus to Gothic design processes more generally, exploring graphic invention, workshop practices, and strategies of form generation across media and scale.
